What Nuvio ReSeq stores, which services it contacts, and how you stay in control.
Effective 2 November 2026 · Maintainer: abbaskip
1. Scope and developer
This policy covers the Nuvio ReSeq Android TV application and this project website, maintained independently by abbaskip. ReSeq is a fork of Nuvio and incorporates Nuvio + IPTV work. The maintainer does not operate a separate ReSeq account or private tracking backend. Third-party accounts and services have their own policies.
Disclosures below reflect Beta 4. Features and available integrations vary by build.
2. Data on your device
The app stores profiles, preferences, addon configuration, library and watched items, search history, playback progress, saved stream references, episode-order selections, IPTV playlists and provider login details, guide settings, favourites and downloaded metadata or guide caches in application storage. Stream and addon URLs may themselves contain access credentials.
Connected services may require account sessions, access or refresh tokens, or personal API keys. These are stored as needed for the integration. Personal TheTVDB keys and supported protected credentials use Android Keystore-backed storage. Storage protection differs between integrations: the published release's Google Drive refresh token is stored in private Android SharedPreferences, and playlist credentials are included in its preferences and backup JSON. The Drive access token is kept in memory. Do not assume all app data is encrypted or that backup JSON has separate application-level encryption.
Local data is retained until replaced or removed through app controls, a relevant profile is deleted, or Android app storage is cleared. Uninstalling removes the app's local data; data already held by external services requires separate management.
3. Optional Google Drive backup and sync
Drive saves and restores supported configuration across TVs after you authorise your own Google account using Google's device sign-in flow. New connections request https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file, which limits access to files created or authorised for ReSeq rather than your general Drive documents or photos. ReSeq lists, reads and creates or updates its backup file. Legacy application-data-folder connections remain supported for existing sessions.
New connections request only drive.file. Legacy app-folder sessions remain readable. The OAuth application is In production; Google branding verification is pending. Users connect their own Google accounts. Personal API keys and tracker sessions are excluded from backups; private IPTV connection credentials are included.
What is uploaded
The published release uploads Live TV setup: playlist and EPG source definitions, provider/server URLs, Xtream usernames and passwords where configured, other credentials embedded in source URLs, favourites, hidden channels and groups, ordering and rename preferences, EPG assignments and other synchronised Live TV settings. The backup also includes its format version, save time, a locally generated device identifier and the device model.
Per-TV recent/last-channel state, download status and certain device-specific settings are excluded. This is a setup backup, not a media upload or a complete device backup. Nuvio login sessions, tracker tokens and the Google refresh token are not exported by this Live TV backup path. Development builds extend setup backup with profile labels and selected TVDB episode orders, stream-source selections and Shuffle preferences; those additions are version-dependent.
How it is used and stored
The TV sends backup JSON directly to Google's Drive API over HTTPS, and retrieves it directly for restoration or sync. The published release names the backup Nuvio Live TV backup.json; newer development builds use Nuvio ReSeq backup.json. A local JSON baseline supports merging changes between devices. The maintainer does not receive a separate copy of your Drive backup or Google sign-in tokens.
On connection, the app can restore an existing backup or create one. When automatic sync is enabled, it checks at startup and backs up changed setup; manual backup and restore controls are also available. A restore can replace local setup, and automatic sync can merge changes from another TV. Restored source definitions are used to reconnect to the corresponding IPTV and guide providers.
Backups remain in your Google account until deleted there; disconnecting or uninstalling on a TV does not delete them. The app updates the saved setup rather than offering a versioned backup archive. Google governs storage and retention within its service.
Google user data and Limited Use
Nuvio ReSeq uses information received from Google APIs only to provide the backup, restore, account indication and sync functions described here. Its use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, used to build unrelated profiles, or used to train general-purpose AI models. Drive backup contents are not sent to metadata, tracking or Gemini services for analysis. The backup feature does not provide the maintainer with human access to your Google data. Google processes the data needed to provide OAuth and Drive; restored IPTV configuration is used with its designated providers to make the feature work.
4. Requests to external services
Network services receive your IP address and the request information necessary to respond. Depending on enabled features, recipients include:
- Metadata providers and addons: default Cinemeta metadata and OpenSubtitles v3 subtitle endpoints are configured in the app; additional playback addons are user-configured. Requests can include titles, searches, catalogue/media IDs and season or episode numbers used for browsing and stream requests. Addon or stream URLs and authentication configured for that provider may be sent to it.
- Playback and IPTV providers: playlist/EPG requests, provider credentials, selected channels or VOD items, stream requests and playback connections. These providers can observe activity on their own services.
- Tracking services: supported Nuvio, Trakt, Simkl and MDBList integrations can receive watched status, playback progress and scrobbles according to connected integrations. Verified TVDB correspondence can translate episode identities before tracking.
- Nuvio account services: optional sign-in and existing cloud sync can send supported profiles, addons, settings, library and progress data to Nuvio's services. See Nuvio's privacy policy.
- TheTVDB: your configured API key, authentication and metadata/order requests. TVDB tokens are cached in memory; personal keys are profile-specific.
- Sports data and GitHub: public fixtures and score requests use supported sources such as ESPN, TheSportsDB and sporting-events.org. The public GitHub Pages sports catalogue contains sporting metadata, not users' playlists or credentials. Update checks contact this repository's GitHub Releases.
- Optional Gemini assistance: if configured with your own API key, requests to Google's Gemini API can include fixture titles, competitions, participants, times, EPG programme titles/descriptions for guide comparison, and the country/region supplied for a sports lookup. Input cleaning attempts to omit URLs and opaque identifiers from guide comparisons; do not put secrets in programme text. This feature is separate from Drive backup, and Google's Gemini terms and data practices apply.
The project does not sell personal information or add a ReSeq advertising or analytics service. Data is transmitted to the services above to perform their functions, so this is not an offline-only app. Third-party retention and subsequent use are controlled by their own policies.
5. Disconnecting and deleting data
- Stop Drive sync: open the app's Live TV / Backup & Sync settings and choose Disconnect. This removes this TV's stored Drive connection credentials and local merge baseline. The published release also attempts to revoke the Google token; network failure can prevent revocation. The backup remains in Drive.
- Revoke account access: visit Google Account third-party connections and remove the relevant ReSeq/Nuvio integration. Check all TVs if you want to stop all sync.
- Delete the Drive backup: disable sync or disconnect your TVs first so a backup is not recreated. In Google Drive on the web, open Settings → Manage apps, find the relevant app and use Options → Delete hidden app data where available. Google's interface and the integration name can vary. If an older build used normal-file mode, delete
Nuvio Live TV backup.json(orNuvio ReSeq backup.json) from Drive and empty the bin if you want it permanently removed. Removing account access alone does not guarantee backup deletion. - Remove local information: use relevant app/profile controls or Android Settings → Apps → Nuvio ReSeq → Storage → Clear data. This removes local configuration and login state and requires setup again.
- Other cloud services: disconnect those integrations and use each provider's controls to delete account data or history. Clearing ReSeq storage does not erase remote watch history or Nuvio cloud data.
6. This website
This static website contains no analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, login forms or embedded third-party media. Assets and fonts are served locally. GitHub Pages hosts it and processes visitor requests under GitHub's privacy statement. Following an external link takes you to that service.
7. Contact and policy changes
Contact the developer, abbaskip, through the ReSeq issue tracker for privacy questions or deletion guidance. Issues are public: do not post passwords, tokens, private playlist URLs or backup files. The maintainer cannot delete data held only on your TV or in your third-party account.
Updates will be published here with a revised effective date. Changes to Google data use requiring additional consent must be disclosed before that new use begins.
